FLANNERY SHAY-NEMIROW
Flannery Shay-Nemirow is a video analyst for Athletik Spesifik. She has worked with the acclaimed video analysis program Dartfish for one year, in both training and competition settings. Prior to her inception into the Dartfish movement, she became comfortable with the Athletik Spesifik way of life over the course of training with Dave Wahl 3 times a week for 5 years. This training regimen has lent itself to learning about exercise theory and practice and drastic strength improvements. Through training with Dave and Mercedes at Athletik Spesifik she has gotten the first female ascents of Colorado and Hueco standard V10s and competed on a national level in both bouldering and sport climbing. Flann has also observed and critiqued climbing all over the world, from Rocklands, South Africa to Chironico, Switzerland.
MERCEDES POLLMEIER
With an Australian accent and parents from Germany and South Africa, Mercedes Pollmeier has a wealth of knowledge and experience within the sporting community. As a teenager, she started developing her tennis career in Australia, breaking state and national rankings, as well as securing an NCAA Division I tennis scholarship in the US at University of Northern Iowa. After two seasons she moved to Denver and played for Metropolitan State College of Denver. There, she and her team reached the elite 8 at the NCAA Division II National Tournament in 2003. After her college tennis career had ended, she started working on receiving international tennis recognition. With the help of Dave Wahl and his training strategies, she became a member of the National Mauritian Tennis Team and competed in the Indian Ocean Games. Tennis is not her only passion these days. She loves to climb, and with the support of friends and coach, she climbed V8 in 2009 after bouldering for only 3 years. Her work experience has mainly been as a tennis professional, but has developed tennis players in many countries such as Australia, Austria, Mauritius and the US. She has helped many junior tennis players reach state championships and recently coached climbers who’ve competed in ABS Nationals in 2009. She has a B.A. in Human Performance and Sport, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), Certified Health and Fitness Specialist (ACSM), Certified Tennis Professional (USPTA). She is currently completing an M.S. in Human Movement and Sports Conditioning.
DAVID WAHL
David Wahl started Athletik Spesifik in 2003 with the intent to improve overall athletic performance for climbers. A lifelong athlete in sports ranging from motocross, powerlifting, telemark ski racing and competitive ABS bouldering, David has been a keen observer of athletic performance in a broad range of sporting development. Athletik Spesifik has worked with many of the Front Range’s top sport, traditional, and bouldering athletes.
